Challenge
Managing inspections across multiple asset types — including over 2,000 trees and 70+ sites — while relying on paper-based processes was time-consuming and inefficient. Playground sites were being inspected up to twice a week using pen and paper, creating significant administrative burden and storage issues, with no easy way to build comprehensive long-term asset histories.
Solution
Tewkesbury Borough Council uses PSSLive in line with Trimble technology to map over 2,000 trees and manage over 70 sites across the Borough. Polygon mapping functions allow the Council to map site areas and plot all assets individually — with full editing capability on both mobile and desktop, whether in the office or out on site.
Tree-specific inspection checklists allow a wealth of information to be recorded against each tree asset. All asset information is stored long-term — exceeding Lord Woolf's 21-year benchmark — building comprehensive asset histories covering every inspection, finding and task ever recorded.
Following training from PSS, play area inspections were fully scheduled within PSSLive, ensuring no inspection is ever missed. PSS guided the team through the process, answering queries concisely throughout.
